Bob HartSince retiring from the College of Education at the University of Georgia, Bob has had more time to devote himself to what makes him happiest, creating and supporting art. His first artistic endeavors were in photography, but now, as a self-taught artist, he experiments with a variety of materials. His painting style continues to evolve, and he also creates sculptures using salvaged materials. Aside from being an artist himself, Bob also supports the other artists in his community through the operation of “The Art Place,” a gallery and studio located in the small town of Crawford, GA. From there he spreads the word about artists in the area and provides a place for their work to be shown. After 9/11/2001, Bob created a Memorial Trail dedicated to those who lost their lives that day. The two-acre area on Bob’s property is open to the public with no admission fee. The entire alphabet is never all there...  People go through life thinking there are things missing in their lives (the missing letters) and that life would be so much better, “if only I had ___________.”    In reality, if we look around at what we have, we have quite a bit and there really isn't much missing. The letters, although creating balance to the paintings, are jumbled and mixed up to show all of the things we contend with everyday.  The tall people are tall so they can look over and above all this chaos in the world.  They have learned not to let everything they are bombarded with on a daily basis interfere with their lives and the things that are important to them.In most cases the arms are missing or partially hidden on the characters.  For some reason even when we have the capability to reach out for help when we really need it, we hesitate to do so.  Our friends and neighbors want and are willing to offer assistance, but we withdraw (the hidden arms) and won't let them know how they can help. The faces are missing because whenever I’ve drawn faces on the figures they never seemed to be appropriate.   I’ve produced a number of these paintings with faces but usually come back and paint over them.  They, therefore, can be anyone you want them to be.-Bob HartWOMEN IN CONTROLIn this series of paintings by Bob Hart, women are in control. The artist recognizes both happiness and the sadness in the lyrics, but he chooses to focus on the brighter side - the joy of “young girls” who have “picked them every one.”We no longer have these paintings on hand, but we will be glad to check with the artist about availability.CHOOSE AN ARTISTFROM THE LISTQuestions about an item or an artist?...ready to buy?...
